D.S. Landscapes is looking to hire an experienced foreman and mason to join our team!
We are a full hardscape company with 10+ years of experience, installing patios, walkways, retaining walls, we work with concrete, excavation, and much more.
We snow plow and do snow removal. We specialize in residential and commercial properties.
We are looking for a highly skilled foreman who has experience in Hardscaping/ Masonry work and are proficient in managing a crew.
Work includes managing a small crew by prioritizing projects, assigning work tasks, using equipment, maintaining records, monitoring work quality and work schedules, ensuring crew safety, training employees, and providing performance feedback. The employee leads and participates in performing various hardscape installations and equipment operation. The employee is responsible for the procurement of materials, work orders, and record-keeping for each project. Work subjects the employee to inside and outside environmental conditions.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
• Working in the field
• Prioritize projects, assign work tasks to crew members, procure required materials, file work orders, and maintain written or electronic records of projects.
• Lead crew and participate in installing hardscape projects, such as walkways, retaining
walls, patios, concrete work, fences.
• Instruct employees in proper work methods and standards; monitor crew work quality; ensure adherence to time schedules and safe work practices, provide performance feedback and input into performance reviews.
• Operate all equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks such as skid steers, mini excavators, stone saws, grinders, hand tools, etc.
• Perform equipment repair and maintenance duties.
• Assist with administrative tasks.
• Participates in standby status during natural disasters or inclement weather.
• Thorough knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in the area of assigned work.
• Considerable knowledge of work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned area of work.
• Considerable knowledge of equipment maintenance and skill in the operation of various equipment including Skid steers, dump trucks, plows, loaders, backhoes, and mowers.
• Working knowledge of leadership skills including communications, motivation, and performance feedback.
• Some knowledge of the laws and regulations related to supervision.
• Advanced skill in the operation of equipment, tools, and instruments used for assigned work areas.
• Intermediate skill in the operation of computers and related equipment.
• Basic skill in writing routine reports and documents.
• Ability to assign and supervise the work of others, provide instruction, lead a small crew, and inspire confidence.
• Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and construction drawings.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
• Ability to participate in standby duty and report back to work if called.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess the visual acuity to operate equipment and motor vehicles, perform trades tasks, inspect the work of others, and review work for accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness.
Desirable Education and Experience:
High school graduation required; Associates degree preferred. Five years of relevant experience required with two years in hardscape. Plowing experience is also needed.
Special Requirement:
Possession of a valid Massachusetts Driving License.
Possession of a valid Massachusetts Hoisting License.
Possession of a valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver's License or the desire to obtain one.
Must participate in a random drug screening program.
ICPI Certified or desire to obtain certification
SRW Certified or desire to obtain certification
This job position requires you to operate commercial lawn mowers, trimmers, and blowers. You will be responsible for the care of longtime customers' lawns. You must be able to operate a commercial lawn mower and know what you are doing, we will not hire you as a full-time trimmer. Noticing your surrounding and taking actual notes of customers' properties that may need extra work done will be a requirement for you to note, in order to provide our office crew with the information needed to contact the customers.
You will be co-responsible for making sure the job truck is equipped with the tools you will need, sharpen mower blades and re-attach them to the mowers. Fill job truck and equipment with gas and 2stroke mix. Empty heavy lawnmower bags into 50-gallon buckets and then proceed to lift and dump the 50-gallon buckets.
Clean out work truck at the end of every shift, clean equipment, and wash down truck. Work with the crew leader and follow directions. If you feel as though a machine is not running right it will be your responsibility to make sure the crew leader and business owner are aware of it immediately, same goes for the job truck you will be riding in on a daily basis.
You will be responsible and penalized if you do not provide ample time for needed days off. Arriving to work on time is also a no-tolerance requirement. You will be wearing our company uniform, no smoking of any substance in our work trucks, customers' properties, or in the office building.
A valid license is required, experience driving trucks is also required. If you had a valid CDL and or Hoisting Licence, we have a different job option for you. We have two sections of this company Landscape and Hardscape we are in need of a landscaping employee and may very often help out with hardscape jobs during any given week, lifting 80 lbs will be in the job scope, constantly on your feet and the ability to move fast is important.
Getting along with our current crew is a must and be able to follow instructions from any and all of our current employees is critical.
This job position is not for those used to working in a union we are fast we are proficient and we are serious about our profession.
